The homeowner had been told that one area of the roof required a costly repair. Fuse reviewed the roof and surrounding conditions before recommending how to proceed. The goal was not to add unnecessary work—it was to identify the underlying issues, explain the available options, and develop a practical solution that provided better overall value.
Fuse helped the homeowner apply for Synchrony financing so the cost of the roof replacement could be divided into payments rather than paid entirely at once. Financing did not change the importance of establishing the right scope; it gave the homeowner another way to move forward with necessary work while managing the immediate financial impact.
During the evaluation, Fuse discovered that the existing soffit vents had been painted over. Although the roof had a ridge vent, air could not move effectively through the attic because the intake path at the eaves was blocked. Fuse installed shingle-over intake vents near the eaves to create a functional intake path designed to work with the ridge ventilation and improve airflow through the attic.
Once the existing roofing materials were removed, the roof sheathing could be inspected directly. Damaged or unsuitable sections were replaced as needed to establish a sound, consistent surface for the new roofing assembly. Addressing these conditions while the deck was exposed prevented deteriorated materials from being concealed beneath the new roof.
Fuse installed two full rows of self-adhering ice-and-water shield at the eaves. This extended the protected area farther upslope than a typical minimum installation and provided added defense against wind-driven rain, ice dams, and water backup along this vulnerable portion of the roof.
Synthetic roofing underlayment was installed across the remaining roof deck to provide a durable secondary water-shedding layer beneath the shingles. The roof was then finished with CertainTeed Landmark architectural shingles in Weathered Wood. Roofing materials, intake and ridge ventilation, flashing conditions, and finish details were coordinated as parts of one complete system.
The completed project provides more than a new exterior surface. It corrected the attic’s restricted intake ventilation, replaced roof sheathing where necessary, added enhanced ice-and-water protection, and created a complete roofing assembly finished with CertainTeed Landmark shingles. Most importantly, the homeowner received a practical solution based on the actual conditions of the home—not an unnecessarily expensive repair recommendation.
